A very quiet 4th of July for me. The kids were gone and B-man was working. So I stayed home and watched the Boston Pops on tv.
I don't know it I can stand all of this excitement.

Grandpa has been gone for 2 years now and shortly after that Grandma moved to Kansas. Mike and Cher are just here for the week but seeing all of this activity next door I had to constantly remind myself that Grandpa was gone.

We have 3 cats and 0 dogs. Lately we've entertained the thought of getting a dog but so far it's only been talk. The neighbors dog came down here for a few days and hung around but I think that was enough for us to realize we weren't quite ready for a dog just yet. Wednesday, June 29, 2011

I have had this picture on my fridge for more than 20 years.It was taken the day Dad, Mom and Aunt Margaret left California for Washington.
The day they all started a new chapter in their lives.
Retired, they left California and headed north.
Months later they finally settled in Oregon. The place Mom and Dad were headed for back in 1953 when they got stuck in California with no money.
We joke now that it only took them 37 years to make it 'home'.

Happy Anniversary to us!We had a few errands to run in Joplin and a planned dinner at Red Lobster. We had to drive all over town and the devastation was heartbreaking. After we passed through the worst of it B-man said 'why don't you take of picture of a building that isn't damaged'.
So I did.
It also happens to be B-man's favorite store so he was quite happy to see it open.

Wow, this is really a crappy picture, tried to take it off of my computer.
This weekend the Joplin Humane Society is having a adopt-a-thon to find homes for all of the animals that were found after the tornado. I absolutely fell in love with this little lady! But I also knew that people were coming from all over the country to adopt and she would probably be one of the first to find a home so I don't think I'll make the trip up there.
edit: they found homes for all of the animals, more than 700!

Here we are again! In May this place had all-you-can-eat ribs all month, the rest of the year it's only on Tuesday nights. B-man had a couple of vacation days to use before the end of June or he would lose them so it was a no-brainer that he took off Tuesday so we could have ribs. He'll have off next Tuesday too then after that it will be next May before we can do it again.Monday, July 11, 2011

She is 8 years old now.
She is afraid of EVERYTHING.
Noises scare her.
Strange people scare her.

A broom next to the doorway scares her.

I was taking Keri back to Bristow and we decided to eat at Cracker Barrel, they have a chicken and rice special only on Saturday and it's Keri's favorite. Since her birthday is coming up we splurged (calorie wise) and shared this mixed berry cobbler topped with 2 scoops of blackberry cheesecake ice cream. Absolute heaven!Friday, June 17, 2011
I didn't do this! About a year ago B-man found these chips at Atwoods knowing that I only like 'thin' tortilla chips. They are the best chips! Problem is it's hit-or-miss trying to find them at Atwoods, seems they only get them once or twice a year. When B-man saw them in their ad he promptly left the house and drove the 30mins. to the closest Atwoods and bought 4 huge boxes!He Loves Me.

I heard B-man go out the back door and about 10 minutes later I heard him pounding on the back door. I looked at Keri and said 'what the hell, the door's unlocked.' Then when I opened the door, at first it looked like he was holding one hand with the other and I thought 'oh my God, he's cut his hand off!!' then I looked closer and saw this petrified little baby. Isn't he adorable??

We went to the cemetery to put flowers on Grandpa's grave and while we were there we walked around and I found several of these grave markings. There was a larger headstone saying that the graves had been moved to this cemetery in 1940. I just found it quite sad that no one knows who is buried here.
